In the summer of 2022, I went to Cooper Union to attend the Summer Art Intensive program. Among the four courses offered, I chose the Graphic Design & Drawing course to hone my abilities in both traditional and digital art. The course lasted four weeks, from Monday to Thursday. Ten physical drawings and four digital art pieces were made by the end of the program.

The three pieces shown below were made using the technique of frottage, which is "the process of taking a rubbing from an uneven surface to form the basis of a work of art". Students were then tasked to find meaning behind the frottaged art pieces.
Blood Flows Down
This art piece features a manhole cover with one side being completely red. Entering a darker theme, this piece symbolizes the number of deaths that occur in New York City almost every week. However, the deaths are eventually forgotten and the blood spilt is inevitably washed away down the manhole to be forgotten for eternity.
The Paths We Walk
This art piece features two instances of brick paving overlapped and angled in different directions. This piece symbolizes the different paths of life people walk. One person may walk the path of becoming a successful businessperson and another may skew away and become a freelance artist. One person may walk the path towards college and another may skew slightly towards not going to college and getting a job. While the brick paving may look the same, the paths they take people will always be different and that's okay.
Forgot You Exist
This art piece features an "N.Y.C. ELECTRICAL" plate covering faded along the edges. This piece symbolizes the things we as people look over in our daily lives. Having lived in New York for over 7 years, I have never come across this plate covering, but I questioned myself, "Is it true that I have never come across this plate covering, or have I simply ignored it"? People's minds on a daily basis are always busy dealing with self-consciousness, relationships, and the dread of the future, where we forget to take a step back and look and appreciate the environment around us. That's why we forget the little things in life. That's why we forgot they exist.
Digital Art
The four digital art pieces were made using both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
At the time, there was this trend on Tiktok where people would go around and say "Bing Bong!". Originating from an NYC street show called "Sidetalk", it went viral and spread like wildfire on social media. I thought the entire trend was extremely idiotic and wanted to make a statement about how our generation is being affected by dumb trends like "Bing Bong" through these two posters.
A Generation in Distress
A baby braces itself in fear as a swarm of the word "BING BONG" begins to fill and enter its head.
Deterioration of Sense
The word "BING BONG" used in different variations over and over again on social media until the two words becomes distorted to the point where they don't even hold meaning anymore.
OBLAK - A Luxury Brand
Students were assigned to meet with other students and get to know them better, and after meeting them, students then had to create a brand logo for that person. I met with a girl named Phoebe Oblak and learned that she was extremely interested in fashion design and wanted to have her own luxury brand one day. After doing some research, I learned that "Oblak" in Slovenian means cloud. After gathering all the necessary information, I designed the logo: A diamond ring with a cloud in its center, and the word OBLAK stylized similarly to popular luxury brands.
